Aubrey Plaza has won an award at the 2021 Imagen Awards! Aubrey was recognized for her role in the film Black Bear in the “Best Actress – Feature Film” category.

The upcoming movie by Guy Richie starring Jason Statham and Aubrey Plaza is now called Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre and will be in theaters on theaters January 21, 2022!
In the film, super-spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) must track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant). Reluctantly teamed with some of the world’s best operatives (Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone), Fortune and his crew recruit Hollywood’s biggest movie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to help them on their globe-trotting undercover mission to save the world.

Another new movie role for Aubrey Plaza was announced this week! She is set to star and produce the film, Emily The Criminal, which tells the “story of Emily, who is down on her luck and saddled with debt who gets involved in a credit card scam that pulls her into the criminal underworld of Los Angeles, ultimately leading to deadly consequences.” The film recently wrapped filming in Los Angeles and will be released in 2022.

Trailer for “Best Sellers”
The trailer for Best Sellers, starring Aubrey Plaza, Sir Michael Caine, Ellen Wong, Scott Speedman, and Cary Elwes has been released! The movie will be released in theaters and through VOD starting September 17th.
Aubrey Plaza has been nominated at the 36th Annual Imagen Awards for her role in Black Bear!
The Imagen Awards will be presented exclusively on PBSSoCal.org and KCET.org Sunday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m PT/8 p.m ET.

Aubrey Plaza will star and produce a new TV series pilot for Hulu titled Olga Dies Dreaming. The series is a one-hour drama pilot based on the novel by Xochitl Gonzalez, and is described as:
the story of a Nuyorican brother and sister from a gentrifying Sunset Park in Brooklyn who are reckoning with their absent, politically radical mother and their glittering careers among New York City’s elite in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Plaza’s Olga Acevedo is a renowned wedding planner whose surface successes mask a darker interior. For Olga, the pursuit of perfection has become a compulsive survival mechanism as she tries to climb as far from her past as she can. Still, she can’t shake the feeling that the important people she knows don’t see her as their equals and this nagging sense that her success is an illusion always leaves her wanting more.

One of Aubrey’s new projects, Best Sellers, was acquired by the company Screen Media for all U.S. rights. The movie also stars cinema legend Michael Caine and is directed by Lina Roessler. It was announced that Screen Media plans to release Best Sellers in September 2021.
“Best Sellers” centers on an ambitious young editor (Plaza) who decides to try to save the flailing publishing house her father left her by going on a book tour with the bitter, hard-drinking author (Caine) who helped establish the company several decades and an ocean of booze ago.

Aubrey Plaza will be a part of the animated series Little Demon. The animated series will be set in Aubrey’s home state of Delaware. She will co-executive produce the series with Danny DeVito and Lucy DeVito.
The new show will feature Lucy DeVito as the Antichrist daughter of Plaza’s character, where they deal with both the challenges of daily life and Satan. It will premiere first on FXX, and stream the following day on FX and Hulu.
No release date has been announced yet.
