Busy day for Aubrey Plaza: First, her NBC sitcom Parks And Recreation got picked up for a sixth season, then CBS Films set a new domestic release date for her next movie. The To-Do List, a comedy about an awkward overachiever who tries to make up for her sexual underachieving in high school before she heads to college, has been moved up from August 16 to July 26. Instead of going up against Universal’s action-comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2, it now will be counterprogramming to Fox’s tentpole The Wolverine. Writer-director Maggie Carey’s film also stars Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg and Connie Britton. It is produced by Jennifer Todd, Brian Robbins and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett, with Mark Gordon, Greg Walter, Tom Lassally, Maggie Carey, Bill Hader and Tracy McGrath aboard as exec producers.

Disney•Pixar has released the new trailer for Monsters University, opening in theaters on June 21. Directed by Dan Scanlon, the prequel features the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina, Dave Foley, Sean P. Hayes, Joel Murray, Peter Sohn, Charlie Day, Nathan Fillion, Bobby Moynihan, Julia Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza, Tyler Labine, John Krasinski, Bonnie Hunt, Beth Behrs and John Ratzenberger.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

Pixar’s Monsters University is a bit of a class reunion for our favorite creatures of the one-eyed and furry variety. In the prequel, Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi will reprise their voice roles from 2001′s Monsters, Inc., but the new film will also feature plenty of new characters.

EW can exclusively reveal more actors who are bringing life to the animated movie’s monsters. Among the talent lending their voices to the film are Nathan Fillion (Castle), John Krasinski (The Office), and Bonnie Hunt (Cheaper By the Dozen).

Hunt’s acceptance into Monsters University marks a return to the Pixar family. She also voiced characters in A Bug’s Life, Cars, Toy Story 3, multiple short films, and even Monsters, Inc., though as a different character than her role in the prequel.

Previously announced voice actors include Sean P. Hayes (Will & Grace), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), and Helen Mirren (The Queen).

Monsters University opens on June 21.

‘To Do List’ Takes Aubrey Plaza Into A ‘Magical Forest’ Of Self-Love
Filed Under: Appearances, Interviews, Movies, Videos • Posted on April 11th, 2013 by admin • No Comments »

Aubrey Plaza may deadpan her way through her TV life on “Parks and Recreation,” but in her new flick “The To Do List,” she’s a little more adventurous.

In the August movie, Plaza plays a high school student wanting to check some sexual life experiences off her bucket list before graduating and hitting the college dating scene. Somewhere along the way, she spends some of the film, well, loving herself, and she had to go into a bit of a fantasy world in order to shoot the self-love scene in front of the movie’s crew.

“I’d say it’s an OK day. It’s a medium day. It was OK. When I’m doing things like that, I kind of go into a magical forest in my mind, so it’s almost like no one’s there anyway,” she told MTV News during the third night of Sneak Peek Week at Universal City, California, a string of exclusive interviews and film previews leading up to Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. “Those days are the best days ever, so I’m crazy.”

While there are some NSFW shenanigans that take place in the film, Plaza said there’s a lot of heart as well. And that has a lot to do with the female friendships that really shape the story.

“I have two sisters. I feel like sisters before misters. That’s real and it’s true,” she said. “When you’re in high school, and I know this from my own experience, there’s a lot of times when you get caught up with your boy-crazy stuff, and I think part of the movie’s message is your friends, your female relationships, are the most important thing, ’cause, really, we’re gonna outlive them all. Women must stick together and we must not let the men interfere. I just think female relationships are very important.”

Her male co-star, Scott Porter, also signed on to the film because of his real-life friendship with Plaza and the movie’s heartfelt message. “You don’t do a film like this unless it has heart … or a great cast. This movie had both of them. So it’s like two home runs at once.”

While “The To Do List” has a whole year to learn if it’s Golden Popcorn-worthy, fans can see which celebs go home with the coveted MTV Movie Awards this Sunday when the show goes live. Rebel Wilson is set to host the 2013 show, live from the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City, California.

Aubrey Plaza & John C. Reilly To Star In Zombie Comedy ‘Life After Beth’
Filed Under: Movies, News • Posted on December 17th, 2012 by admin • Comments Off

Ever since the 2009 premiere of “Parks and Recreation,” Aubrey Plaza has proved to be an interesting comedic presence that has impressed the likes of Judd Apatow and Edgar Wright, who cast her in “Funny People” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” respectively. With her first lead role in “The To Do List” hitting next year, the deadpan actress is also gearing up to star opposite John C. Reilly in the zombie comedy “Life After Beth.”

According to a piece about Plaza in The Guardian, “I Heart Huckabees” co-writer Jeff Baena will write and direct the horror comedy. And while it might seem related to the 2010 UK short of the same name whose synopsis reads, it’s actually a original screenplay, and we’ll be curious to see what this will bring to the fast growing zom-com genre.

We’re interested in seeing Reilly and Plaza play off each other, Shooting is apparently set to start this spring and we wonder whether there’s a chance it’ll hit theaters before the end of 2013, which seems to be the year of the zombie with undead rom-com “Warm Bodies” and the Brad Pitt-starring “World War Z.” We’ll let you know more as we find out.
